It's not as controversial as it sounds....but we don't have meetings.

Meetings allow you to be passive. You sit around, someone hijacks the agenda, people feel like they wasted their time. So we don't do this.

Things we have:

Brainstorms (2-8 people. 1.5h-4h)

Decisions (2-5 people. 15m-45m)

Kickoffs (2-12 people. 15m-45m)

Reviews (2-5 people. 15m-1h)

Braindumps (2-8 people. 15m-1h)

1:1s (2 people. 30m-1h)

Q&As (whoever wants to show up. 30m - 1h)

If you end scheduling one of these: you should title it with the type. For example “Brainstorm: Filter giveaway ideas” or “Decision: Ethereum vs Polygon vs Stripe”

If you ever find yourself in a room that isn't one of those things - please let your manager know. If your manager is the one that called a meeting - please call them on their BS and tell them we don't have meetings.

In a similar vein: the moment you feel like you shouldn't be in a decision/review/etc. - say "IHO" for "I'm heading out" in chat - and get back to whatever is a better use of your time.
